Makiko Nishikaze – Composer

Makiko Nishikaze was born 1968 in Japan. She is a composer and pianist and will be working in the Kirchenstadel during August and September 2016. She studied composition in Japan, California and Berlin, where she graduated as a master student. She now lives and works in Germany. Mrs. Nishikaze is a lecturer on experimental music and composition in Germany as well as in Japan.
As a composer she experiences a place through the hearing; perceives a language which she does not know – like the German dialect of the Valais – as a sound. That should be her theme during their stay.
Mrs. Nishikaze wants to record spoken language – what she has already done in Germany, Austria, Japan and Iceland – and reproduce it as music.
